Thanksgiving road-trip to NC

We could possibly be insane, but we drove 9 hours for Thanksgiving week to spend time with family and friends!

Brynlee has figured out she gets more attention when she flirts with you and smiles in the mirror. And we found the peanut semi! As you can see we are in the middle of a circle of about 15 semi trucks and what you don't know is every one of them has a driver sitting and laughing at me while we drive up to the peanut truck, run to the truck like a tourist and take a picture. We got some smiles and honks on the way out of the circle. Good thing the peanut driver never saw me although....are you kidding. I bet so many people do that to him! I mean, look at the thing!

We stayed with some good Rexburg friends....the Miles, in Richmond. It was fun to catch up with them and see their cute house and kids. We went to the "Old" Confederate White House, which was so cool.

We went to the museum for the Confederate White House and I saw Cornwallis's jacket he had on when he died. There was a bullet hole at the heart. Here is a picture of the confederate flag with this eloquent quote I loved:
"We . . . beneath its graceful folds pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."
1860 - North Carolina

This is a picture of a beautiful cemetery. In the background is Edgar Allen Poe's mother's tomb.

This is the tombstone of George Wythe, the first Virginian declaration signer and the first professor of law of the US.

The cemetery surrounds the church where Patrick Henry gave his "Give me liberty or give me death," speech.

Robert Lee's monument

And good o' BYUI's medieval fighters showed up in a park in Richmond as well!

In Durham, NC we rode bikes to this pimped out warehouse:

And toured Duke and NC campuses.

We had a great Thanksgiving dinner. Somewhere along the way Dev got the hives. We have yet to figure out what he was so allergic too! And we watched the BYU vs. Utah game!

Cute Jack giving Brynlee loves. Brynlee giving me the, "Are you done yet?" look!

The chef's

Melanie's amazing turkey

And our appetizer..... Gilbert:

We are glad to be back. Poor Brynlee has developed an ear infection but other than that we safe and so thankful for our country and our God!
