This post is a little overwhelming to remember and write about. We had so much fun on our Idaho vacation this year. Devin doesn't like taking too much work off so this is our big vacation for the year. we decided to save thousands and just drive up to Idaho. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. We finally joined the world with DVD players in the car and it made all the difference. Extended periods of a quiet car can make for a peaceful trip with good conversations. Our first leg was 13 hours and we did it quickly. We ate all 3 meals on the go and filled up two times with quick bathroom breaks. The kids did great and we got in around 9 pm. Destination: Grandma Shaw's house. I haven't seen her in years and it meant a lot to me to stop by and say hi!The kids were spoiled the whole time and had a blast at her house! We went to church with her the next day, ate lunch and took of for Rigby.
They had as much fun in the banana chairs as I used to!
It was neat for Brynlee to sleep in the bed my Dad grew up in and I slept in everytime I visited!
This amazing woman means the world to me and I hope to be just like her! Thanks for letting us mess up your house and eat your food. The kids loved the toys!
We stopped at our Pittsburgh friend's house, the Richins on our way to Rigby. We went boating a few times. One with Jameson and Kiri, one with the Gneitings and Harris family and then once with extended family. I'm proud to say after 2 years and another baby - I can still get up and cross the wake accidentally!
Jim has used this fertilizer tank as a make shift swimming pool for many decades. The problem is the temperature of the hose water!Dev in his element = driving the boat.
We had to keep a few traditions. Actually our whole trip is trying to cram in all our traditions but hiking the Butte has become a tradition. I don't know how Bailey (dog) is so good at photo bombing every picture!!!
Zach looks thrilled to have the star-eyed beauty on his arm!! Brynlee got to celebrate her birthday twice with both families. She is so lucky!! She told me she can't wait till she turns 5! At age 4 she is now a lady. She is such a big help and usually jumps to help Teddy before I hear anything. She loves getting a stool up to the counter to help with dinner. She is very social with friends and is all about pink and princesses. She loves to dance and sing all day long and still speaks very well. She is good at telling me what she is feeling but has become a great negotiator to commands. Her funny comments have toned down a little bit I think because she is starting to understand concepts and social communication better! She is 3 feet 5 inches and 38 lbs. And her hair is just as curly as ever.
We did a bambino run and fed one to the missing missionaries. The cousins had a blast together. They slept in forts and on the tramp. It was so fun to watch Brynlee really take to her cousins and Olivia. At the end of the week she bore her first testimony in church all by herself. She said, "I know the prophet is true. I love my family and I love Olivia. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!" It was pretty cute!
There was an intense game of volleyball on the 4th that I don't want to forget. I was one of the shortest and least skilled players of all 3 or 4 teams. Devin's family knows how to grow them tall and talented!
We had lot of fun with Devin's high school friends. Every second was packed and planned for this trip and I'm a little bummed I didn't get to see some other friends. But we had a little girls outing for Natalie and her new-in-coming addition. We got together a little at Menan Days and had a fun night eating out and playing games.
Devin and I took a ride without kids with the Kennedy's on our razors up at Kelly's Canyon. Whitney brought dinner and guns. They had the ride down to an art and it was fun to imagine us having those fun toys someday!
Last but not least I visited my favorite place: the cabin on Henry's Fork!
I'm missing Idaho so bad already! We had a blast and are so grateful for wonderful family that put up with us for 10 days!
