Happy Thanksgiving!

I did the thankful turkey with Brynlee.  It was hilarious.  First off I introduced a turkey to her:
"Brynlee, this is a turkey and turkey's say gobble, gobble, gobble!"
"Mom, that is a chicken and chickens say cluck, cluck, cluck." (Sometimes we call her bossy pants)
"No, it's a turkey and we are going to eat one in a few days." (I'm arguing with a 2 yr old)
"Oh." (Great now she won't eat thanksgiving dinner)
"So what is this?"
"A duck!" (Can you just taste the sarcasm!)
"Try again sweetheart"
"It's a turkey and it says gobble, gobble, gobble!" (Her turkey sounds sounds better than mine!)
So we proceeded to write down what we were thankful for on the feathers which took forever because being the horrible mom that I am she had no idea what thankful means.  All she knows is she says it in her prayers!  Anyways I'll skip to the end.  This is what Brynlee decided she was thankful for
-Ghosts (still stuck in the last holiday)
-Dad comes home
-Big chocolate, big poop (This one needs an explanation.  We have found that the only reward she will respond to in potty training is candy.  She was smart enough to go "little poops" and hold it for 5 minutes and do it again for more chocolate.  So we had to define poop as "big poop."  If she goes big poop then she'll get big chocolate.)
-Gerdy (her stuffed animal that is the punishment for potty training, and yes we are still dealing with it.  She has had 2 accidents now that Callen is here and I'm praying the second one {during thanksgiving dinner no less} will be the last one)
-Mom - yes I'm so glad she likes me!
-Jesus

And because she was very done with the activity by then I added all of the things I'm thankful for too.  Here she is with the outfit!  And I took a picture of Callen too.  It is kind of hard to make him photogenic.  I mean who honestly looks good when you are koncked out and all he does is sleep and eat.    But man has he changed.  His stomach and face is filling out a ton but he still has the skinniest arms and legs.  Oh and his feet are the same length as his ankle to his knee and same with his hands.  They are huge!  He is a grunter.  Never really cries and when he does it's wailing "mum, mum, mum!"  I swear he is calling my name is it makes me laugh.  He is very predictable and Brynlee is becoming so helpful with him.  She turns on lights, gets diapers, throws them away, holds him.  She really is sweet with him.  It's just when Dev is gone and I'm nursing.  She knows I can't do anything so she'll act up if the nursing toys aren't enough to entertain her.  So I have plan B this week and we'll see if it works better than the nursing basket.  Callen's eyes are still draining green junk.  The doctors said that this is normal - odd.  I couldn't have swore green boogers are a red flag with children whether it's eyes, nose, ears, mouth.  Oh well.
For thanksgiving we loved having Dev home.  We watched the parade while dad went and played some football and then watched football the rest of the weekend.  The 4th yrs get together every Thanksgiving and have a big dinner.  We have been gone 2 of the 4 yrs but we were excited to get to participate this year.  Dev made some incredible mashed potatoes.  He did his cheddar, ranch style and plain.  Needless to say we made way too much!  But the dinner was amazing.  I get there and right away had to nurse Callen for 45 minutes (still takes forever).  Then I go eat for 30 minutes and then guess who decided nursery toys were more important that poop.  Yes, my child.  I was embarrassed and it was everywhere.  So instead of having a naked child run around the church for the rest of the day we turned going home into a punishment for her.  Quick dinner, but it was still good to see friends and eat the great food.  Then we went home and got everyone bathed (takes forever with 2 kids) and in their jammies.  Then we decided to crash a pie party cause we had a whole pie that we didn't share b/c of goober's accident.  But let's be honest I basically ate the whole pumpkin pie anyways!  A few hiccups but it was a fun day.

love that you got creative with your punishment! glad to know I'm not the only one who does that...and we're still dealing with accidents too. you are not alone! sounds like a super fun thanksgiving though. at least you tried to do a "thankful" activity. we didn't even try...my kid has no idea. maybe next year I'll be better.

I did a thankful FHE too and was embarrassed that Pax didn't really know what thankful was either. I wanted to do the turkey idea but Adam was gone doing church stuff and it was too last min but yours is cute. Love the Christmas tree and catching up with your birthing and Grandma post. Moms are amazing huh.
