Grandma Shaw

There are so many other things I could call this post like first bath or first hair cut or humble healthy humans?!  But Grandma Shaw is the best.  She has cleaned, done the laundry, read stories, ironed wax paper leaves, introduced a dancing wand, carried all items down and up flights of stairs, bathed, done night duty, changed diapers, and the list could go on.  Oh and she subbed nursery which was is quite the duty.  I am eternally indebted to her!
We have been dealing with the side effects of jaundice at our house.  Callen was high risk for one too many days.  So for a week we had to go to the hospital in the morning to draw his blood then take naps then go to the pedi office for check ups.  We also had to put Callen on a bili blanket.  He is our blue light special!  I was so sore from all the apts everywhere and I wasn't carrying anything!  But his levels started coming down so no more doc apt and no more blanket which is so nice!  And I'm recovering a lot quicker now.  The jaundice knocked him out.  He would eat about 4 oz then sleep for as long as we would let him. He gained his birth weight back in 5 days and has been doing 4-6 hour stretches at night since birth!  YEAH!  Now he is waking up a little more.  His disposition is still so sweet - I'm crossing my fingers it's permanent and he is still sleeping great at nights.  I finally changed a diaper with one wipe and one diaper!  That whole circumcision and umbilical cord clean up was rough!  I felt so handicap trying to change his diapers!  He definitely has curly hair when we bath him but it's different than Brynlee, it doesn't have a red tint to it.  He looks like Brynlee more and more everyday as he starts to gain weight and his face fills out.  His body type is just so different than Brynlee.  He still would have been 6 lbs if he came on his due date.  Anyways Brynlee is demanding more and more attention which is hard but I'm glad she still hasn't taken anything out on Callen.  Note to self the nursing basket has been a life saver but be more strict with when.  Brynlee had her first hair cut and she was not thrilled.  I bribed her with chocolate to smile for the picture.  Also I'm completely humbled by the generosity of friends and neighbors.  From meals to blankets and gifts to babysitting.  Everyone has been so so nice and it's rejuvenated me to do the same for others.

We went to the strip district as our outing while mom was here.  And Brynlee has been great during all these apt.  Giver her a grandma and she is entertained for hours!  Mom leaves tomorrow and I feel capable finally but am scared.

What a well dressed little boy you have! Super cute outfits. :) Love the "blue light special". Glad he's doing better and that you can finally sit and rest a bit! Your mom is so cute!! You can tell she just loves being there! How great!! And you look GREAT!! We need a family picture. I don't think we've done that yet...sad. You'll do just fine all alone...just don't expect anything to get done and you'll be fine. :)

I did not expect to see a young blonde whipper-snapper as Grandma Shaw! I forgot she's Grandma Shaw! Love your mom--so glad she got to come. And I love that your little boy looks like you! So so, so sweet!
