Glass is half full

Besides the surgery recovery ... life has continued.   Yesterday Teddy finally got over his 10 day, horrible cold.  But Brynlee ate 10 pieces of gum and got this nice shiner:
It's worse than it looks.  Her gums are black and blue and her upper lip looks that bad on the inside.  I have gotten out of the house 2 times in the last 3 weeks.  The "glass is half full" comment is that Brynlee has had some good snow fun with dad:
And we had the most amazing visit from Nana Jewel/Grandma Jewel/Granny Gneiting/My best friend(all the things she called her in a week).
And here are 2 pictures that at the time made me so mad, but now looking back are just hilarious.

Brynlee refuses to sleep in her bed.  She will spend hours playing and I go in sometimes 10 times trying to get her to go to sleep.  The other day I finally kept her up from her nap and she went right down that night.  I just can't get myself to function without some down time to recover!!!  But it's looking like she is dropping her naps.  Anyways we have found her on the top step, in the nursery rocking chair, in our bed, on the couch downstairs, playing with my wedding ring (that made me sick), eating cupcakes in her bed, loading callen with blanket and trying the 2 binki's at once combo, crackers all over her bed, toilet papering our bathroom, etc.  You get the idea.  Anything but sleep.  So we have been laughing and it's only frustrating in the moment!  When I tell Dev later, it is pretty funny!  Next, she loves doing her own hair.  Problem is that it turns into a clown's wig cause she won't comb the sides!  And it takes dumping the whole bag of rubber bands and squirting everything in her room to finally finish her task!  The second picture is also documenting how much she is attached to gerdy right now.
Here is a funny video of Brynlee.  She wrapped Gerdy up in Julie's bed and was reading her a book on emotional stability.  Every page she says the same thing, "Once upon a time, far away, there was a girl named Cinderella.  She was soooooo nice."  Next page, repeat sentence.  On and on.  I finally got my camera out for the last 2 pages.

Next is Callen.  It's hard to remember to document the child that just lies there and does nothing but smile.  So I got him smiling a little but he has laughed a few times now.  Mostly to everyone but me!  But it's a cute little grunt laugh!  Stomach time is still a joke cause I think I'm bad at it but he is pretty good at the bumbo and standing.  Brynlee is so so cute with him!  I cut the back of Callen's hair yesterday.  We got the old man effect.  Top bald with a pretty good mullet.  I couldn't stand it!

This was a fun, adorable baby shower of a friend.

Your kids dropping naps is a really hard thing to recover from. I was really disapointed when mak stopped and now emmett is giving them up as well. The bed time thing can be a nightmare. My dream is not for a bigger salary, a nicer house, or having my husband back... my dream is for there to be space for each child to have their own room.. we had an up hill battle trying to get the boys to sleep in the same room... but stick to it and it will get better. I know it is hard to not have any down time. At our house we have quiet time... the boys don't have to sleep but they can pick between quietly watching a movie... or reading book or playing their leap pad what ever they choose... they have to leave mom alone for 1 hour... you need a break each day you deserve it! Hang in there... you are doing great!!!

hang in there nicole!! you looked awesome today...u can totally pull on the "look like I got everything under control" and SOME!!! Not to mention you being so on top of the cooking night. Got the ADORABLE invite!

Alex tip (worth nearly nothing, but thought I would share anything): I know every kid is different but we turned the door handle around on parkers room and locked him inside. It only took about two or three nights of him HATING it that he never gets out a bed. EVER. Like even sometimes he asks if it is okay that he come down. And one days he wont nap I tell him it is quiet time and he can either read or play quietly. Most times he will end up falling asleep playing but every now and then he will just sit in his bed looking through books or playing with his cars and I still get my two hour or so break!

I couldn't stop laughing at the "comb the top, but not the sides, so it looks like clown hair" picture! So funny! When she doesn't comb the top, she looks like little Orphan Annie. Cute! I totally know what you mean about being frustrated in the moment but then laughing later when you tell hubby how bad child was!!
