Everyday life and Holidays

This post is unbelievable!  There are like 50 pictures to explain so I'm just going to go through and try to remember and explain the pictures.  I am getting into Devin's hunting.  I am slowing getting better at cooking venison.  And we couldn't let the little horns go to waste.  I've been wanting a bigger and better key hold and Devin came through once again with his carpentry.  I love this!

Callen had a big fall and it is so sad when they have big facial bruising.  I have a hard time telling them no.  He is also transferring to a big boy bed.  I've learned my lesson with my second and I'm not rushing anything.  I think that was the root of my problems.  He loves his monkey, monkey blanket and pacifier every night.  He usually yells I wuv wuu mordt.  (I love you more) and asks to be tucked in.

I was in the kitchen cleaning up when Brynlee came in and said mom, I can't get him to stop flushing and the water just keeps coming out.  Not the thing you want to hear first thing in the morning.  Teddy had flushed a whole roll of toilet paper down was trying to finish off the job.  I also captures the beautiful picture below!  It was onc serious plumber crack with his very heavy diaper.

We have been going up to Bailey canyon while there is still snow on the ground.  It is really fun to bring up smores and hot chocolate and camp around a campfire while people take turns sledding.  We do lazy man sledding with motors.  I love going with other people cause it teaches my kids to play hard and be tough.  They usually enjoy it longer when there are other people.  I do remember once we went by ourselves and drove through some really cool trails though.  It is fun to be on your own too.

They are developing some ground around our neighborhood and we have take quite a few walks to go check out the tractors.  Teddy is so into tractors and cars right now.  and the video is one of the many times the two of them are laughing hysterically together.  These two really play well together.  They are close enough to help and play with each other but their interests are different like their gender so they don't fight over toys that much.  Brynlee is so patient with Teddy.  Goober can't even open a door or get out of his crib at 2 1/2!  But he is big - he weighs almost as much as his sister.  He is really solid and getting really tall.

We are in love with the weather here.  We have had about 60's and 70's weather for the last few months and it is great.  When you are in the middle of the desert with not a lot to do - at least we can always be outside.  Brynlee has been looking forward to her preschool valentines party for weeks.  We made some cute valentines and I was floored when she came home with the only candy valentines being from her.  She even got a sliced apple from someone as their valentines.  I felt bad for her but she has years to consume sugar on that holiday!  I finally got a cute picture of most of her class mates.  She talks about them all the time and tells me who is going to who's bday party.  I love how much she talks to me about school.

I have joined  a freezer meal group lately and my quality of cooking has really gone down.  It hasn't really saved me money either.  It has saved me time which I've needed with my piano lessons and calling.  I feel like I'm in a rut a litte with cooking.  Always happy valentines day Dev, I almost burnt down our house again :) !

We have gone to red sands a few times.  We have found a few people with ATVs.  We have gone enough that we found the perfect cove to set up camp and start a fire.  We have gone on a lot of the trails and have it down.  It isn't too much of a hassle to pack up and clean up now after we go.  We did make it out on Valentines day and then hurried back (smelling horrible) for our ward's valentines ice cream social and dance.  It was really fun.  I apparently wasn't paying enough attention (I was helping scoop the ice cream for everyone) and came over the 5 bowls my kids had downed.  I expect it from Teddy (that kid usually has 4 hot dogs) but Brynlee joined in on this feast.  They were dancing so funny too.  We had a blast that day!
I've finally figured out my back.  We got a new mattress and that has made all the difference for me.  I feel like I can go to sleep and wake up as a new day instead of starting off in the fight where I went to sleep.  Running helps a ton - which no one can figure out.  And I'm usually pain free now if I can run at least 1.5 miles every day.  We had to go to the nearest big town which is Albuquerque for the mattress and on the way home we finally got a video of Teddy!  He is hilarious singing.

I was driving down the road on the bypass and had to stop for 3 goats to cross.  I was laughing but I also like how the pictures shows the landscape here.  Not much to it but you can see how close the mountains are to us.  We have gotten into tennis a little.  It is hard for me to be so bad at a sport.  Then I learned I was playing on a kids racket. Hopefully that is my problem.
Piano is also a big part of my life.  I have 12 students that I teach after school Tues and Wed till dinner.  They are so good and it is one of the most rewarding parts of my life right now.  They treat me well and for the most part - practice and improve very well.  I'm almost done with my first year.  I've had fun semesters.  We had a garden semester where they built their caterpillar for practicing.  Then we had a race car semester with a really fun themed group lesson.  And we just finished up our ice cream party and semester.  They built their own ice cream based on practicing and memorization.  It also feels good the contribute to bills and debt with teaching.  There is a big list waiting if I decided to expand teaching but for right now I just don't think I could keep up on anything if I did add some students.  It keeps me up on playing too.

There is a man in the area that owns a camel.  We have seen him at white sands and we finally got to stop and take a picture with it.  It reared up and scared me but Dev was much braver than me!  I also like the picture cause Devin had just finished playing a game.  He had a dentists basketball team together for a league at a local church.  He added a few people so it became the old man doctor team!!!!  But it was fun to go see him play.  He really enjoys it to I think.  The league just finished and now Dev and I are on a co ed volleyball league.  It is really fun.  This co ed league is in town and we don't need a babysitter which is really nice.  We have found our first scorpion here by our front porch.  I'm leaving it there to attract a vinegaroon as a guard dog.  The kids keep feeding it crackers and hoping it comes back to life.
We found some free scriptures with pictures at the church.  It was in a give away pile.  I wiped the dirt and taped the binding.  Brynlee has loved them.  Here is a cute picture of her falling asleep while reading her scriptures.  She has finally given up her nap.  She will sleep maybe once every other week if I lay down with her.  Teddy is still going strong.  They both go down at about 8.  Devin is really good at bedtime prayers and brushing their teeth.

The kids are obsessed with dogs right now.  They really would love a dog but in this rental we just can't.  Sometime we will get a lab.  The above picture is funny cause they were dragging poor zoey everywhere.  And the kids were watching a dragon movie.  Teddy said he was scared and Brynlee told her she would protect him and they cuddled for the rest of the movie.  It was really cute.

So when I had my hives for a week I came out to the kitchen and turned on the light to see a giant spider and huge cockroach on the counter and floor.  I was creeped out to say the least.  I never saw the spider again and I'm chalking it up to hallucinations while on lots of medicine and allergic reactions.  But I did see the cockroach again.  I couldn't convince Devin to ever get out of bed so I took matters in my own hands and am proud to say I poisoned the creature and haven't seen any night time creatures since!  We had a good St. Patricks day too.  We all wore green and the night before Devin helped the kids make a huge cool popcorn trailed trap for the tricky leprechaun.  The little guy gets away every year and leaves us a trail of his green footprints and a basket of green treats/toys.  We had a green dinner with corned beef and rainbow cupcakes with some friends.

I am proud that some of Brynlee's funny comments has been featured in a magazine.  At least other people can start laughing now.  It is the Seeing magazine that my family is big on.  I have also been trying to get used to this calling (below pic) and I want to write this down so that when my posterity goes through this I can remember when I learned and tell them.  I have learned a lot about myself and the Spirit.  I have realized that I need things organized and very efficient to eliminate my stress.  It has made it more stressful for others to help me be organized.  But I'm finally to the point and caught up that I can start changing things for their benefit and not mine.  I have also hoped this whole time that the calling won't change my personality.  But it is impossible for it not to.  The spirit takes away all your opinions and judgements in every situation so that you can make decisions based on the spirit and not based on your wisdom.  So the only thing I've leaved to do is to try and turn it on and off in different situtaions so that on date night I can enjoy myself and others.  It isn't as rewarding like I thought it would be which sounds depressing but I have felt so many blessing in my personal life when I choose the right.  I am 100% more suseptible to the spirit's promptings.  I get it minutely!  And the more I follow, the more I get.  My family has become so much closer - I love it.  I have struggled to follow the bishop's advice of only doing my calling once a week and to try and keep up and put my family first during the week.  The last thing I've learned so far is that you can never please everyone.  The spirit has blessed me with a thick skin for the comments and phone calls and gives you a great perspective so I don't get wrapped up in drama.

We just started going shed hunting in the mountains.  It is finally warming up in the mountains so we can take the kids for longer periods of time.  I felt like shed hunting was like snipe hunting but we finally found one so I'm a believer.  This last time we were unsuccessful but it WAS SO FUN!  We were going off trail, knocking down trees, running them over, jumping and yelling "let it go."  It was a really fun time.  The family memories together are the best and what I look forward to on the weekends.

And I wouldn't be caught up on posting unless I posted some funny comments of Brynlee.
The picture below is of Brynlee singing "Let it go" with infatuation.  I stopped and listened to the words then said, "Brynlee should we run from home or our problems?"  Brynlee said, "Yeah, I like her."

Then the other day she told me "Mom, I love you like 50!"  Dev asked her, "How much do you love Teddy?"  Brynlee said, "like 1!"

Brynlee:"mom I keep praying that my birthday will hurry up and it's just not happening!"

Brynlee: "Mom I ate so much candy, I'm sweaty...when is another birthday party!?"

Talking about why we left Heaven:
Dad: "You are right Brynlee, we left Heavenly Father and came to Earth to get bodies."
Brynlee: "Yeah, cause we just had heads."

Brynlee to a Walmart employee last night: "you have pretty rings, that's a lot of husbands." I tried to silence my giggle when the employee glared at us.

Brynlee in the car:"mom thanks for listening to the movie. You are like a kid mom."
Me:"thanks sweetheart, you and like a mom kid!"
Brynlee:"I know."

Me: "Brynlee, come throw away these bags." Brynlee: "Mom, I'm not human today...I'm a princess. You can call me your your highness."

Brynlee: "Mom, you are going to miss me today, probably, so just pretend this ginger bread girl is me and you will be happy. (thought for a moment) Try not to bite off her head." LOL- Me: "That would be sad if you didn't have a head." Brynlee: "Ya, cause then I wouldn't have hair." Haha, yeah that would be the worst part!

Breaking up toffee together. Brynlee: "Mom, this cake loves you just like your mom cause it is always falling apart." WHAT?

"Mom, my sins are washed away cause I took a bath right last night ... Right?"
