We have been working pretty hard on our yard this last month. (It still needs a little work) We want to take pictures this summer for selling next year. Dev has won every battle (weeds, mold, etc) in our grass except the little chipmuncks. Devin thinks he needs a BB gun to win that battle. We planted our garden and some flowers. I'm excited to do my flower pots again soon - I think that is all we have to do now! Our compost that we worked so hard on churned and developed well in our home-made buckets, but I have to say the effort is not worth the reward. When we opened the buckets after the winter, there was hardly anything. Next time I'm going to go to Lowes and spend 10 dollars on 10 times the amount with no effort. We did learn alot though. Like the sun chips bags that say they are biodegradable - aren't biodegradeable! We are trying hanging tomatoe baskets and green onions this year. Lessons learned from last year's garden:
-don't have themed gardens (you end up with way too many of 3 things).
-Bell peppers produce in 2 weeks only so you wait and wait and work and then get like 20 in 2 weeks - not worth it
-brocolli just takes us so much room for maybe 3 heads through the whole summer
-cucumbers don't like me
-fence your garden
-don't over water
-flowers somewhere in your garden attract the insects and bees you need.
-any package that says vines instead of bushes - be aware. They take over your garden.
We went to Cincinnati! It was so so fun. You are always guarenteed a relaxing and exciting time when you go stay with Nan. I always come away inspired to try new recipes and expand my horizons a little in my kitchen. They treated us well - as usual. Brynlee LOVED "Nan and Keef!" Here she is being a cheese ball with them. She went to them as much as us. I was surprised - I think she really did remember them from last year. And this time we got to go with Janelle and Thomas - another treat!
I think I'm going to stop telling Brynlee to say cheese, it is producing the ugliest camera faces! It was such a good baseball game. They went into extra innings and won by 2 runs! They had a firework show after as well with perfect, perfect weather!!
We had amazing seats - once again, thanks to Nan and Keith. Right above home dugout. We also got a ball rolled to us from the coach. Thomas' dream come true!
We went swimming all day Saturday and Brynlee was in heaven. We wore her out. Their pool is perfect with a shallow area for little kids. But we had to wake her up one night and take her to the best ice cream in America! GRAETERS! Oh I love that place. I got raspberry sorbet and Dev got their famous black raspberry chocolate chunks.
This is how you know you had a fun weekend. I put her in her highchair for lunch and wasn't feeling well so I went to the couch to lay down. I then woke up with a jump and looked at the clock. 5 minutes had past and we were both passed out.

Love all the pictures. So I want to wish you luck with the "no cheese" thing for pictures. I feel the same way. I have no luck. Peter has really awful faces for the camera for about a year now. Let me know if you figure out a way to get a 'natural' face on her!
I learned a lot of lessons last year with my garden too. Mostly to start small or else you get overwhelmed and ignore it! This year I'm just doing herbs and tomatoes. At least we'll have plenty of Bruchetta and salsa! I hope you are feeling better! Also, I'm jealous of your ice cream trip, it sounds amazing!
Oh but I just love her "Cheese" face. It cracks me up! I am so glad that you had a great weekend and felt good!
I really like your hair color right now. I don't think I realized how light it was before, until that picture of you at the stadium. Looks like fun.
Your blog has inspired me to go explore NC more. Is it too late to add things to your New Years resolutions? Either way you all look great! and what bump? I can't see a thing.
